Hello Emerson Families;
We are excited about the 2024-2025 school year! We continue our efforts in supporting all students as they grow their knowledge and understanding in the core subjects (Reading, Math, Social Studies and Science) and in special areas (Art, Music, and Physical Education). We have been updating our curriculum over the years. This year, all grades K-5 will be using I-Ready Math. This program is helpful in tracking student progress and in scaffolding their learning supports. It gives our teachers an accurate view into the skills that need to be worked on for each individual child. Our teachers work to individualize learning for all our students in all subjects to ensure the best learning is taking place.
Our teacher and student leadership teams will continue to implement PBIS: Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies across the school. Our theme this year is to be Safe Kind and Responsible. Teachers work together with each other and students to plan out expectations, supports and rewards. This will be our second year implementing a student leader portion of the program, the student ambassadors. Student ambassadors are great role models for their classmates. They lead assemblies, and model good behaviors and school practices. All students enjoy the day-to-day incentives and enjoy the culminating fun events.
Our students also continue to grow themselves outside the classroom thru extra-curriculars, afterschool sports and clubs like: Student Council, Music, WozEd, Destination Imagination, Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Cross-Country and Cheer. Similarly, there are academic clubs: Literacy, Literacy and Language, Math, and Test Prep.
Finally, we are happy to bring back many school-community events like Grandparents Day, Trunk or Treat, Seasonal Dances, Participation in all District Family Nights, Field Day and our fundraisers. These activities give all our parents and students an opportunity to come together to enjoy the district, school and each other around common themes for learning, fun and fellowship. Here’s to a great 2024-2025 school year. Go Eagles!
Sincerely,
Principal
